It is the story of a rescuer and a rescued animal who instantly form a unique bond and become friends for life.
A small dog runs desperately along the road
It’s a hot summer day when Kaye Fiorello is driving along an interstate highway in Cleveland, Tennessee.
In the middle of the scorching sun, she suddenly sees a skinny puppy running desperately along the side of the road. He is completely unprotected from the heat and all alone.
Kaye stops immediately and calls the police.
While she waits, she looks after the shy young dog, who is lying exhausted on the grass.
The rescuer in distress is well prepared
It takes a moment for Officer Tudors from the Highway Patrol to arrive.
But the animal-loving policeman brings everything the little dog needs:
A canister of water, a packet of food and a huge umbrella that he bought especially to provide the four-legged friend with protection from the sun.
He cuts open the canister so that it becomes a drinking bowl and carefully places it in front of the puppy.
He then kneels down in front of the cute furry friend and holds the open umbrella so that it is in the shade.
With his other hand, he manages to give her food, which she happily accepts.
It’s love at first sight for both of them
The most important things Officer Tudors has with him are love and patience.
„I’m going to sit here until she trusts me,“
he says.
The puppy obviously senses how loving this man is. There is a very special bond between the two of them right away, as if two soul mates had met.
When Officer Tudors is sure that the girl dog trusts him, he puts her in the car and drives her to the Cleveland Animal Control Center.
There it turns out that the dog has a broken hip and will need lengthy treatment.
The entire police department is keeping their fingers crossed for little Princess, as Officer Tudors has named her, that she recovers well.
Officer Tudors has long since decided where Princess will live when she is allowed to leave the clinic.
He has fallen head over heels in love with the enchanting dog and never wants to give her up again.
Princess naturally feels the same way. She is delighted every time her best friend and rescuer visits her and can’t wait to finally come home to him.
