The relationship between Lewis Jiminez and the male pit bull Titus can rival the love story of many Hollywood films.
The dog’s cheerful and friendly nature immediately made Lewis‘ heart beat faster when they first met at the animal shelter.
But their time together was put to the test when Lewis was forced to give Titus back!
A sad ultimatum
„He’s like my big kid“,
the proud dog owner told „The Dodo„.
But the couple’s happiness did not last long. Soon the unthinkable happened.
Lewis was given a choice by his property manager: Either he takes the dog back to the shelter, or Lewis has to leave his home.
As Lewis had neither family or friends who could look after his pet, nor an alternative place to live, he took Titus back to the shelter out of desperation.
Hard times
The dog was taken back to theAustin Animal Centre, but his condition deteriorated.
Far away from his loving home, he now had to put up with the cramped cages, the cold of the concrete floor and the chaos among the other dogs.
Only the constant visits from his master brought him pure joy.
However, as soon as separation was imminent, both Lewis and Titus were devastated.
And then… a miracle!
As dramatically as their relationship began, however, things took a turn for the better. Lewis found a new home with a big garden for himself and Titus!
The pictures of the final reunion went viral on social media – Titus smiling in the tight embrace of his tearful master.
Afterwards, Lewis thanked the staff at the animal shelter for their work.
Because he knew that it was only because of their care that his pet had survived his time there unscathed.
