The dog Squishy didn’t have an easy start in life… She was abandoned by her owners and was now wandering around helplessly on the beach on the island of Saipan.
When she was first spotted there, she was extremely frightened and in a terrible state. Apparently she hadn ‚t eaten for ages as she looked completely malnourished.
She was also suffering from a massive tick infestation and mange – no one had looked after the poor puppy for weeks! But rescue was near.
She snapped at every
As Squishy distrusted all humans due to her past, she immediately started snapping at anyone who came anywhere near her.
But the people watching her on the beach knew that she was in desperate need of help. That’s why they contacted Boonie Babies Rescue animal rescue.
„I was on the beach within five minutes because it was very close to my house,“
reports Aria Keilbach, the founder of the animal welfare organization.
When she saw the four-legged friend, she was extremely exhausted from the heat and on the verge of dehydration.
It wasn’t difficult to catch her
The first thing she noticed was that Squishy was wearing a collar! So she seemed to have belonged to a human before.
Unfortunately, this beach is known for regularly dumping animals that are no longer wanted at home.
Aria and her helpers tried to catch the four-legged friend, but it kept snapping and barking at them. However, as it was too weak, the rescuers had an easy time with the dog.
They caught it with a towel and finally brought it to safety.
She was trembling with fear
Squishy didn’t know what was happening to her at first – after everything she had been through, her fear was all too understandable.
But it didn’t take long for her to thaw out and realize that the people around her only wanted to help her.
The animal rescue workers lovingly cared for the puppy and gave her all the love she deserved.
„Just a few hours after I brought her home, she realized we weren’t going to hurt her and stopped growling when we approached and started wagging her tail instead,“
aria reported.
Squishy was like a new person
Slowly, the dog was even able to accept cuddles and was increasingly happy about the attention she received from her humans.
Squishy got better and better from day to day. Her fur finally grew back and she managed to regain her trust in people.
Squishy underwent an incredible transformation and is now almost unrecognizable.
„As amazing as her physical transformation was, her personality development was just as impressive,“
reported Aria. In her care, she has become a self-confident, loving, clever and inquisitive dog.
She couldn’t part with her
Aria is actually responsible for rescuing dogs and then finding them new homes.
But after seeing Squishy’s wonderful transformation, she realized that this dog belonged to her.
„I have rescued, rehabilitated and adopted over 300 dogs in my time here on Saipan, but I have never fallen in love with a dog as much as I did with Squishy,“
aria says happily.
What incredible luck for Squishy, who has finally found a forever home.
