What is a paradise for western vacationers is hell on earth for many dogs: Bali.
Fortunately, aid organizations have made it their mission to rescue abandoned street dogs in need – and offer them a good life after all.
This badly injured puppy also has a stroke of luck and gets a second chance. What happens next is incredibly touching.
Bitterly poor strays on Bali’s streets
Bali is a popular vacation paradise, especially for backpackers and surfers: Reasonable prices, long sandy beaches, lush green landscapes and warm-hearted inhabitants.
The island invites you to unwind and immerse yourself in East Asian culture.
This is the beautiful side of the story.
But there is also an incredibly sad side. Many stray dogs live on the streets of the island. They are stunted, injured and on the verge of starvation.
Fortunately, there are animal welfare organizations that rescue these street dogs. One of them is „Little Steps Matter“, which shares a particularly tragic and beautiful case with the public.
A helper is led by a street dog to a place where three other injured four-legged friends are waiting to be rescued.
One of them is a small puppy who is baptized „Ayla“.
The little fighter Ayla
The picture that presents itself to the animal rights activists is heartbreaking.
The little dog is badly injured. Her front legs appear to be severely deformed so that she can crawl rather than walk.
Ayla must be in incredible pain. Nevertheless, the little mouse bravely gets moving and greets the new guests with a wagging tail.
The animal welfare organization takes Ayla into their care and finds out that the cute puppy’s legs are at least not broken.
But one of her legs is so badly deformed and weak that Ayla can barely walk. She gets a splint around her sick leg.
The result is like a small miracle: Ayla makes progress in the truest sense of the word. She can soon walk almost normally and romp around happily.
A new home
And it doesn’t stop there. Ayla continues to blossom. She jumps around happily with the other dogs and makes everyone laugh with her cheerful disposition.
Despite her difficult fate, the little dog doesn’t let it get her down.
And then she even finds a new family: Daniel and Jonathan immediately fall in love with the lively Ayla and give her a home.
Not every street dog is as lucky as Ayla. Many puppies cannot be rescued and die on the street.
But the touching story of little Ayla shows that it is worth fighting for these four-legged friends. They are worth saving – and getting a family.
