When Denim the dog first appears at the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) premises, he is in a terrible state.
You can count every single rib on his emaciated body.
In addition, this poor creature has numerous injuries and, last but not least, his spirit is completely broken. Soon he will undergo a great transformation.
A whole new dog
No one knows exactly how long Denim had to fend for himself on the streets. Perhaps it is the only life he has ever known.
So it’s not surprising that he needs time to settle in. But every day brings progress.
Denim gets all the medical care he needs and, above all, he can now eat his fill every day. The physical transformation is amazing.
Anyone who sees Denim some time after his arrival and then compares him with the emaciated stray can hardly believe that they are the same dog.
Incredible mental changes
But the physical change is only half of the story. The other half is mental. Gradually, Denim’s fear fades and he gains confidence.
„It’s always such a fulfilling experience to see a dog transform from a shy, withdrawn creature into a silly and happy furry friend.“
says Gillian Kocher of the Pennsylvania SPCA. In fact, the transformation goes particularly far with Denim.
It doesn’t take long for him to become the happiest and most playful dog in the entire shelter.
He is bursting with energy as he romps around the dog playground with his four-legged friends.
Waiting for a loving home
All Denim needs now for a truly happy life is a loving forever home.
His new family will still have to invest a lot in training him.
Of course, Denim is not yet as well-mannered as a dog who has lived his whole life with responsible and friendly people.
But Gillian Kocher is certain:
„Whoever adopts him will be richly rewarded.“
