Four years ago, sniffer dog Wangwang retired from the police force. When this man suddenly appears in the street, she is suddenly in tears.
Fortunately, someone captured this highly emotional scene on video, otherwise it would be hard to believe.
Because the eight-year-old German shepherd’s reaction proves that animals can feel deep emotions after all.
Man visits shepherd dog
As the British newspaper Daily Star reports, Wangwang was used as a sniffer dog in the central Chinese province of Henan until 2019.
She was then adopted and now has a new, beautiful home. The usual procedure, because the police dog handlers simply don’t have the time to take care of her.
It was a difficult moment for Wangwang, as she had a particularly close relationship with her human partner.
The moment in the video, which was posted on the Chinese social media platform Douyin, shows just how close.
She recognizes him immediately
Wangwang’s former handler took the time to visit the dog again a few years later.
She immediately realizes who is approaching her on the street! The sweet furry friend immediately runs to the man with whom she had worked side by side for so long, day in, day out.
Then she throws herself on her back and enjoys the way he used to stroke her belly.
And while the policeman does this, tears run from Wangwang’s eyes. From the sheer joy of seeing him again? Her whole posture certainly suggests it.
Unfortunately, this heartfelt moment is short-lived, as Wangwang’s former dog handler has to continue his duties.
But one thing is certain: the shepherdess will keep him in her heart for all time.
