Senior Dog With Teddy Bear Face Was Returned To Shelter 7 Times, Again Searching A Home Now

Alter Hund wird 7-mal ins Tierheim zurückgegeben - bis ein rührender Facebook-Post alles ändert

A universal weakness for cute dogs often results in quick adoptions.

But the story of Martin, a ten-year-old adorable four-legged friend at the SPCA of Wake County, turns out differently than expected.

Martin, a senior dog, is being surrendered by his 89-year-old owner who can no longer provide the care he needs.

Despite the heartbreaking reason, he emphasizes the urgency of finding a loving home for Martin.

Despite his advanced age, Martin is adapting to his new surroundings surprisingly quickly. But his search for a permanent home is proving difficult.

„He’s settled in pretty well. I don’t know if he understood what was going on, but right from the start he was just this happy, easy-going, really sweet old man with a teddy bear face,“

says Samantha Ranlet, a marketing communications specialist at SPCA.

Several adoptions ended with his return to the shelter – a frustrating situation for the four-legged friend and the shelter staff.

In the two months since he’s been at the shelter, he’s been returned seven times.

This is probably because people underestimate the needs of an old dog, and because of his heartworm disease.

The power of social media

To give the furry friend the happiness he deserves, the animal shelter shared his story in a Facebook post.

The touching description of Martin’s nature appeals to thousands of people:

„Martin really is the best boy. His previous owner said he was extremely gentle, especially with children – Martin [used to] cuddle up with their grandchildren so they could lay their head on him for a nap.

He gets on well with people of all ages, including seniors, gets on with dogs of all sizes and energy levels, is house-trained and used to the dog crate. Martin is a little hard of hearing (he’s 10 years old), but he can still do some tricks and loves to be rewarded with treats.“

The post goes viral and attracts numerous adoption requests.

End of a search and a new beginning

Social media opens a new chapter for Martin. An experienced couple who accept his medical needs and age stand out among the applicants.

Love for Martin overcomes every challenge.

The emotional journey of Martin, the lovable senior dog, finally finds fulfillment. Thanks to Facebook, he gets his long-awaited forever home.

This story emphasizes compassion and patience in animal adoptions and shows how a little dog named Martin moves hearts worldwide.
