One day, Annie, a one-year-old dog, arrives at an animal shelter. She is a stray from the street and little can be said with certainty about her past.
At a glance, however, it is clear to everyone that she has had a terrible life, so frightened is this poor soul.
Cramped with fear
Annie’s behavior goes straight to the heart of every sentient being. She huddles in a corner and presses herself as close to the wall as she can.
Her head is turned away and her body is cramped with fear.
The shelter manager is recording the scene on video, but Annie doesn’t even dare to look in her direction.
She acts like a child who holds her hands in front of her face out of fear and hopes the evil world won’t see her.
A turn for the better
Annie has escaped her bad past on the streets and is now in a good shelter.
But it will take more for the little dog to enjoy her life again. The beginning of this journey is very clear.
Annie is adopted after just eight days at the shelter and goes to a loving family.
It is still beyond her imagination that her fate has really changed permanently. She remains anxious and prefers to keep to herself.
Inner healing will take time and she will get it in her new home.
Melting fear and a new brother
Very slowly, like drops of water falling from a block of ice, Annie’s fear begins to melt.
When you see her lying on the floor, she seems more relaxed and even a little happy.
Her final recovery comes about thanks in no small part to her new canine brother Ralphie. The cheeky pug is younger than her and a real little bundle of energy.
He teaches Annie how much fun it is to chase each other around the garden.
Anyone watching Annie can hardly believe that this is actually the same Annie who was hiding from the world six months ago out of fear.
