In animal shelters around the world, dogs dream of a loving home. Their eyes express a silent longing: „Adopt me, please!“
That’s how one special dog named Steven Tyler, a two-year-old pit bull terrier, feels.
For months, he has been waiting at the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento (California) for someone to rescue him from his loneliness.
The heartbreaking video
The shelter released a touching TikTok video of the dog looking out the window of his enclosure every day for potential adopters.
His eyes reflect the longing for security.
„With a face like his, I couldn’t believe he had been waiting in our shelter for two months for a home, but it’s a difficult time in the animal welfare world right now and adoptions are very slow,“
says Luna Anona, the shelter’s press officer, and continues:
„I thought if everyone could see what I’m seeing right now, surely someone will come along and give this dog a ‚happily ever after‘ home.“
The redemptive adoption
The video receives more than 650,000 views on TikTok and is shared thousands of times on Facebook.
The story gets a happy ending when very special people become aware of the video.
„His new family saw his video and brought their entire family, including their existing dog Tahoe, to the shelter to meet him,“
the Bradshaw Animal Shelter posted on Facebook.
The entire family knew immediately that Steven Tyler belonged with them.
„He is a gem. He hit it off with our dog right away and he is so good with our kids. He’s sweet and loving and it feels like he’s been here forever,“
they explain.
The moving journey of Steven Tyler, now named „Donner“, shows us the power of compassion and love.
