Sometimes you just have to be lucky in life. Like the young mongrel dog Nala on a beach in Bali.
She meets her rescuers at a moment when she is in a hopeless situation.
They are experienced animal rights activists who find and rescue the dog. For Nala, this is the beginning of a completely new life.
Animal rights activists of all people come along
Nala, who lives as a stray on the beach, has fallen under a pile of rocks. Nobody knows how she got there.
She is stuck and doesn’t dare move. But she makes a loud noise when animal rights activists from the Bali Animal Welfare Association pass by the pile of rocks.
They hear the whining and immediately set off in search of the animal. They can see Nala’s black nose and eyes through a crack.
The rescue proves difficult
The rocks are too heavy to clear away and free the dog from her predicament.
So the animal rights activists try to lure her with food. But Nala is too scared. She doesn’t move from the spot.
Finally, the rescuers manage to put a bamboo rope around her neck and slowly pull her out of the stone cave.
Happy and unharmed
The animal rights activists are relieved. Nala, on the other hand, doesn’t know what to do with her rescuers.
„She was extremely stressed, restless, anxious and unwilling“
reports one of the animal rights activists.
Even though Nala appears unharmed at first glance, the rescuers take her to a vet and then to the animal shelter.
Her eyes are irritated from spending so much time in the sand, but this heals quickly and she will not be affected.
Start of a new life
Her rescue marks the start of a new life for Nala, far away from the beach in human care.
It takes a while before she finally trusts people, but with a lot of love and care she succeeds.
The young dog had a double stroke of luck. She was not only rescued from the rocks, but also from a dangerous life as a stray on the beach.
