On a stormy morning in Texas, employees of an animal shelter found a green plastic tarp in a parking lot.
They didn’t like something about the tarp, so they took a closer look. What they found underneath broke their hearts on the spot.
Trapped in a cage

Under the tarpaulin, the employees of San Antonio Animal Care Services found three cages. Each of these housed a dog.
More specifically, two German Shepherds and a Chihuahua had been heartlessly abandoned here.
The shelter staff did not hesitate for a second and contacted other helpers to bring the dogs to safety.
„Every time something like this happens, we are totally sad and frustrated. We’ve had a lot of severe thunderstorms lately.

I can’t even imagine the anxiety the three dogs must have endured with all the noise, rain and nearby traffic.“
said a deeply shocked Lisa Norwood of San Antonio to The Dodo.
Rescue from jail

The rescuers took the three pelt-noses to the shelter, where they were given something to eat and drink. Here they were also able to warm up again.
The two German Shepherds were named Cyrus and Peaches, the Chihuahua Gabby. Each of the dogs familiarized themselves with their new surroundings in their own way.
„Both Peaches and Gabby seemed a little calmer. Cyrus, on the other hand, was totally terrified and took his time to make friends with us.“
lisa continued her story to The Dodo.
Forever homes for Peaches, Gabby and Cyrus

The shelter staff knew the three dogs couldn’t stay with them for long because the shelter was already bursting at the seams.
Fortunately, Peaches and Gabby quickly found families.
Cyrus now lives at the German Shepherd Rescue of New York, where he is waiting for his forever home.
He has now built up more trust in people and loves to play with his fellow dogs all day long.
We hope that Cyrus will soon find a home where he will receive all the love that Gabby and Peaches are already enjoying.
