People who rescue animals leave a lasting impression.
There are situations in which they can’t get any further without human help. That’s what happened to the little puppy Piece.
The cute puppy couldn’t thank her rescuer enough for getting her out of a hopeless and terrible situation.
She was sitting like a heap of misery next to the highway
It was a rainy and chilly day in Sacramento when firefighters responding to an emergency call discovered a little girl dog sitting next to the freeway.
The poor animal was standing in the rain, shivering and all alone.
This sight got under the skin of everyone present, but unfortunately the firefighters were unable to stop. They were on their way to an emergency call.
But they did not leave the animal to its fate
Of course, the animal-loving firefighters did not forget the little dog and made their way to him as soon as they could.
They rescued poor Piece and took her to the station building so that she could warm up.
It turned out that the puppy had been abandoned and its owner had tied it to a tree for several weeks.
Firefighter Mike Thawley could still remember exactly how frightened and distraught the little puppy was when they found him.
After first aid, Piece was taken to the animal shelter
The big-hearted firefighters fed the puppy, offered him a cozy bed and showered him with cuddles and love.
But Piece needed to be professionally examined and treated, as her coat didn’t look healthy and first had to be properly groomed.
So the dog was taken to the animal shelter, where she was thoroughly examined and treated for mange.
The fire department team couldn’t get Piece out of their heads
They just couldn’t stop thinking about the puppy.
Mike knew he had to see his four-legged protégé again.
„We all kind of took him to our hearts,“
wrote the Sacramento firefighters on their Facebook page.
So they visited their Piece and there was a heartfelt reunion. She wagged her tail like crazy and immediately recognized Mike, who had rescued her.
What’s more, Mike didn’t come alone – his wife and three young daughters were also there. Everyone wanted to give the cute little dog a hug.
Four months have now passed and Piece is old enough to move in with Mike and his family.
What a happy ending!
