Once again, Suzette Hall, founder of the animal welfare organization Logan’s Legacy, has to experience something very unpleasant in beautiful Southern California.
A concerned resident calls to tell her that three small puppies have been sitting on a street corner for some time without a human to look after them.
A heartbreaking sight
Suzette can only drive to the location a few hours after the call. When she arrives, she immediately sees the three puppies. They are still sitting there exactly as they were described to her.
The puppies are sitting close together and looking in three different directions. All three are looking watchfully.
It is obvious what heartbreaking thing is going on here: the little ones were abandoned on the street and are now looking after each other.
Suzette is moved and shocked at the same time.
The puppies are sitting on the sidewalk, yet the dangerous traffic of the busy road is far too close.
When Suzette and her team want to take the puppies away, something else turns out to be very sad: they don’t want to leave.
Apparently they are hoping that their family will come back and pick them up.
Cruel reports
Concerned residents have been noticing the puppies for days.
Some report that they saw the little ones being pushed out of a car near a park. The car then simply drove away.
The puppies were completely distraught and ran into the park in panic to seek shelter – right through the middle of the moving cars. Miraculously, they were not injured.
Later, they returned to the spot where they had been thrown out of the car and waited.
Unique cohesion
As it gets warmer, the little ones flee from the sun under a parked car. This makes the rescue even more difficult.
But Suzette’s employees lure the hungry babies in with food. The two puppies are still skeptical, but the girl trusts the rescuers and jumps into the car.
The two boys follow her – probably not because they trust the humans, but because they want to stay with their sister.
They did it! Polly, Damien and Barkley, as they will be called from now on, are safe.
They go to a foster home together, where they are freed from vermin and nursed back to health.
They stay close together the whole time. Now they are looking for a loving forever home together.
Suzette says it is unusual how inseparable the three are. Although street dogs often form partnerships of convenience, such a close bond is unique.
Hopefully they can be adopted together!
