Kangaroos are actually quite shy animals that tend to avoid confrontation with anyone.
Not so the kangaroo in this video. On the contrary, it gives the impression that it is clearly enjoying what it is doing.
Fortunately, a courageous rescuer approaches, who accepts his own injuries and saves the dog from the worst.
Firmly under control
It’s almost unbelievable. But the kangaroo in this film is standing in waist-deep water and trying to drown a dog.
It squeezes the dog’s throat with its short front legs, the dog just gasps and obviously has no chance of escaping the situation.
A man, presumably the dog’s master, intervenes. Unfortunately, the video does not show exactly how he manages to free the dog from the grip.
However, the rescuer did not survive the rescue operation unscathed. Two bleeding wounds on his hand are the result of the struggle.
Got too close?
The kangaroo’s behaviour is definitely not normal. At most, it could be that the dog got too close and the Australian marsupial felt threatened.
The large and powerful giant kangaroos in particular try to defend their territory from humans.
They then strike with their front paws, box or even kick. Experts recommend not getting too close to a kangaroo in the wild and not provoking it.
The injuries sustained by the brave man show how sensible this advice is. The wounds look painful.
As if nothing had happened
Incidentally, the dog seems unimpressed by the dicey situation. He happily walks on with two other dogs as if nothing had ever happened.
The commentators celebrate the rescuer as a hero.
