Tania Isenstein, the chairwoman of Animal Lighthouse Rescue, was just about to relax on her couch after a long day at work..
But nothing came of it – because she received a disturbing message from Liza Arias, the manager of the sister animal shelter in Puerto Rico.
„We’ve just found a bin bag full of puppies.“
That evening, Liza discovered a garbage bag with something moving inside.
When she looked inside, she couldn’t believe her eyes at first – the sight of seven newborn puppies wriggling around in the garbage was simply horrifying!
It was a huge miracle that the animals were still alive at all!
Tania was devastated when she heard the news – but unfortunately she was not surprised. It wasn’t the first time she had seen abandoned puppies being thrown away like garbage.
Safe at last
The puppies were immediately freed from the bag and taken to vet Sharday Villahermosa – who lovingly cared for the helpless puppies and looked after them around the clock!
As their immune systems were still very weak, they had to be kept outside the shelter.
That’s why the vet Sharday and his family did everything they could day and night to get the little ones through.
What an incredibly admirable person who, in addition to this litter of puppies, also took care of many other animals that were rescued from the streets.
A rescuer for animals in need
For the vet, it goes without saying that he actively supports animals. Unfortunately, too many people look the other way, even though they have the opportunity to help.
How fortunate for the puppies that there are nevertheless kind-hearted people like vet Sharday Villahermosa!
Around June, the puppies will be taken to the New York City area where they will be prepared for their future adoption – and hopefully find a forever home.
Tania Isenstein is already looking forward to when the litter of puppies can finally be placed with a loving family and no longer have to worry about being abandoned.
