There are plenty of animal stories that get under our skin. They shock us, perhaps shake us awake and, in the best case, lead us to become active in animal welfare ourselves.
The following story is about a German shepherd dog who is in a terrible situation. But thanks to thoughtful people, her life can be saved.
It all starts with a routine inspection
Kylina Turner does residential and commercial property inspections for a living. Naturally, people in this job expect to find something unusual.
But what Kylina discovers that day is hard for her to believe.
The woman sees a small bundle of fur sitting in a backyard. At first she thinks it is a stuffed animal that a child has left there.
Then something unexpected happens: the „stuffed animal“ twitches its ears. So it really is a live animal!
She is shocked to discover that the animal, which turns out to be a dog, has its legs stuck in a bed made of cables.
A shocking find
It later turns out that a tenant had found the dog and brought it into his backyard. He called pet control, but no one came to help.
So the man simply leaves the animal to its own devices because he is disgusted to touch it.
Kylina carefully untangles the poor dog from the cable bed and gently places it in her car. She quickly drives him to the nearest vet.
At the vet, he is treated for sunburn and is severely malnourished and dehydrated.
Now it is also clear that it is a female dog, and she is given the name Caro.
Caro is slowly recovering
Kylina regularly visits her fosterling Caro. She is relieved to see that the dog is getting better and better.
She is now able to eat again and is gradually finding her way back into life.
Kylina has taken the dog to her heart and decides to adopt her. She already has a seven-year-old dog and is delighted that he is getting such a companion.
For the first few weeks, Kylina has to give the dog medicinal baths to treat her for mange.
She also has to adhere to a strict feeding schedule so that Caro gains weight.
But it’s worth it, the dog is getting better and better!
