Vanessa Keating, Theresa Burge and Aubrey Metropulos are out and about in Bulldog Canyon in Arizona. The three outdoor enthusiasts are looking for a particular cactus.
And they find a cactus. But what they didn’t expect: The cactus is attached to someone.
Fur nose in distress
This someone is not a person from the campsite, but a dog who is clearly wandering through the desert alone.
The three women immediately decide to help the poor furry friend. After a single growl, the dog thinks that such a rescue is actually a great idea.
After all, walking through the desert alone and abandoned with a cactus by his side is anything but pleasant.
Nobody knows him
As soon as the three women have freed the dog from the silly prickly thing, he immediately shows his gratitude.

„When my sister Theresa made it, he got all warm and excited. So many kisses and he even had the zoomies.“
vanessa Keating describes the dog’s reaction.
So the worst is over for the four-legged friend for now and he is enjoying the cuddles he is now getting.
But one question remains: What should happen to him now?
Vanessa, Theresa and Aubrey ask around the campsite to see if the dog belongs to anyone present. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
Nobody here knows the little guy, but that’s no reason for the three women to give up.

Thank goodness he’s chipped
The next stop is the vet. A microchip cannot be felt through the fur, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything given the small size of the chip.
A quick scan reveals this: The dog is indeed chipped and the owner’s contact details can be found. Now the three women call the dog’s owner.
No coyote food
The man has been missing Echo, because that’s the dog’s name, for a few days and can hardly believe his luck.
„The reunion was great,“
says Vanessa and continues:
„Lots of tears. He thought Echo had been eaten by a coyote and had already given up hope. He was so grateful and relieved.“
