The story that unfolds in front of a man’s eyes is actually quite sad.
A puppy is abandoned by its own mother in the middle of the street on a cold day.
Fortunately, a goose sees the puppy shivering from the cold and knows exactly what to do.
Stupid goose my arse
The goose takes the puppy under her wing in the truest sense of the word. She spreads her wings over him and provides him with life-saving warmth and security.
It gently strokes the tiny puppy with its beak. The puppy calms down and falls blissfully asleep.
A man is able to capture the adorable scene on film and posts it online. And the online community rejoices.
What’s more, goose and dog are adopted and can spend their future lives together in safety.
These are stories that go right through you. A goose, colloquially known as „stupid“, shows compassion.
The behaviour is not normal
This is anything but normal, as geese do not naturally socialise with other animal species.
They live monogamously in flocks and can react aggressively if they see themselves or their brood endangered.
Compassion or even pity are not necessarily part of the normal behaviour of geese. Their emotions relate to survival, their own family group and reactions to environmental stimuli.
What really counts in life
In this case, the goose probably sensed that the creature was fighting for survival and reacted to the feeling of threat.
The question of why exactly it did this will remain unanswered from a human perspective.
However, an important lesson for us humans can be derived from the goose’s behaviour:
What really counts in life are the true values, and above all else, this includes compassion for all living beings.
