It’s frightening what some people can do to their dogs.
Unfortunately, poor Roddie also had to experience being mistreated and then abandoned in a cruel way.
Despite everything, he has retained his kind soul, as his rescuers realise every day – but Roddie would love to share his love with a real family.
This is Roddie
Roddie is only two years old. The sweet male, who is 48 centimetres tall and weighs 17 kilograms, has a beautiful and soft black coat.
His caramel-coloured eyes shine in contrast and his irresistible puppy dog eyes go straight to the heart.
Roddie is the sweetest dog you can imagine. He is always friendly to everyone, whether human, dog or cat.
He wants to be friends with everyone and with his kind-hearted, peaceful, charming nature he wraps everyone around his pretty paw.
In view of his bad experiences, his gentleness means that Roddie is reserved (but always friendly) when meeting new people and lies down submissively on the floor as soon as he thinks he might be hurt.
His split ear, a missing piece of the other ear and his shortened tail also tell of a cruel past.
Roddie’s story
How Roddie was found is also a testament to the cold-heartedness of his former owner.
When he felt he had mistreated Roddie enough, he took him to a field and chained him there.
This is how the poor puppy was found – in the middle of the pouring rain, hungry and without a chance to move away from the place to seek shelter and food.
The „human“ must have intended for Roddie to die. Fortunately, his evil plan didn’t work. Roddie was found, brought to safety and nursed back to health.
The ideal home for Roddie
Because of his gentleness and his bad experiences, Roddie is looking for particularly loving, sensitive people and a harmonious home.
He wants to arrive in peace and feel that he is in good hands from now on, never has to fear violence again and never has a reason to throw himself submissively to the ground.
Roddie wants to be close to his two-legged friends, spend lots of time cuddling and going for walks together and have regular contact with other dogs.
He also wants to learn the ABCs of dog training – here too, a great deal of empathy is required, as well as patience, understanding and an exclusively positively reinforcing training style without scolding and punishment.
Can Roddie snuggle up to you for the rest of his life, accompany you faithfully and always be happy?
