In a parking lot, a woman notices a dog approaching her. It quickly becomes clear that the dog has an urgent matter.
She runs off, but not without making sure that the woman follows her.
When the clever four-legged friend has finally brought the woman to the desired location, she can hardly believe what a big surprise is waiting for her there.
Dolly wants to show her rescuer something
Mitzi Brogdon, director of the „Street Dog Rescue & Recovery“ animal shelter in Oklahoma (USA), was just about to set off when she noticed a stray dog.
Although Brogdon had already rescued a street dog that day, she knew she couldn’t leave the cute dog in the parking lot.
She approached the animal and was amazed at how trusting Dolly was. But Dolly wouldn’t just let herself be taken away!
Instead, Brogdon quickly realized that the dog wanted to show her something, so she followed the excited Dolly.
She led her along a path towards a mobile phone mast to a fallen tree trunk.
A big surprise was waiting behind the tree trunk
Brogdon could hardly believe her eyes when a whole flock of puppies suddenly came shooting towards her. She told The Dodo:
„I’m used to seeing dogs running around everywhere in Oklahoma. But so many at once, it was a shock!“
The dog rescuer counted 16 puppies! Brogdon had never rescued so many dogs at once before.
The woman quickly realized that they were puppies from three different litters. So the great Dolly had also taken care of the strange puppies.
Without Dolly as a surrogate mother, most of the puppies would probably not have survived as long. Brogdon decided to help Dolly in her selfless rescue mission.
She called for reinforcements and while she waited, she racked her brain for where to put all the dogs.
No heart for Dolly?
All the animal shelters in the area were already overcrowded. Brogdon decided to launch an appeal on social media and posted a live video on Facebook.
The campaign was successful and the puppies were distributed to four different shelters, where there was already a great demand for the puppies.
But the heroine of our story, Dolly, of all people, has so far gone home empty-handed, which makes Brogdon very sad:
„She’s perfect for adoption, she’s a gem. She’s the one who saved these puppies.„
Hopefully Dolly will quickly find a new home where she will get back the love she gives and deserves!
